Montijo Airport

The Montijo Airport project, which will operate in conjunction with Lisbon's current Humberto Delgado Airport, aims to transform part of an air base into a civil airport. The overall project includes all air and land side infrastructure, as well as the airport access road, which is about 1.5km long.

The airport is expected to start operating in 2026 with around 4.5 million passengers, but the project is expected to accommodate an expansion to about 7 million per year.

The project assigned to QUADRANTE, in consortium with Mott MacDonald Aviation, includes all the airside, terminal and other support buildings (control tower, fire station, technical buildings). The architectural concept project was developed by HTAL, and MMConcept collaborated with Quadrante in the preliminary architectural design project.

The concept study was developed with BIM tools at the city scale, allowing various simulations of traffic and implementation of the entire infrastructure.
